About Me

I am passionate about the voluntary sector, social action and newly fascinated with open data. I have spent the majority of my career in the voluntary sector, and four years in central government. In the new year I will be joining Brighton & Hove Impetus as their Chief Executive.

Until then, my fees are on a sliding scale according to the work required and the size of your organisation. You can commission me to:

  • provide fundraising support, write or contribute to funding bids, critique and strengthen your proposal,
  • research specific voluntary sector policy issues, and advise on their affect on your organisation, or in your area,
  • manage specific projects or provide extra capacity.

Recommendations:

“Jo’s bid reading service is marvellous. Her knowledge of government policy, astute questioning of the project activities and overall project ideas, and ability to link what you want to do with what ministers and civil servants are looking for is invaluable. Jo also delivered us an extraordinarily thorough piece of work at very short notice – and even came into the office after office hours to see whether we needed more help!” (November 2011)

“Within a tight timeframe of two weeks, Jo took on a brief to prepare four Expressions of Interest for the DWP Innovation Fund. This entailed analysing the tender spec, making contact with the partners, understanding their approach and methodology and then coaching them in producing their response as part of our overall submission. All four partners commented on Jo’s ability to build rapport with them over the telephone, her knowledge of the sector and empathy for the distinctiveness of their service as well as the quality of her comments on their drafts that developed them into bid compliant documents.”  (August 2011)
